Licensing & Sales

Are there any royalties or distribution fees?

No, distribution is completely royalty-free. A license seat applies only to the number of developers actively writing code with the uCalc SDK. For example, two developers working together require a 2-seat license. Once compiled, your team can release an unlimited number of uCalc-based products, across as many platforms as necessary, with zero additional fees.

Your license is perpetual for any version released while your subscription was active. If your subscription expires while you are using version 7.0, you remain licensed for that version indefinitely and can continue using it in all new and existing products. You only need to renew or upgrade if a future release (like version 8.0) introduces new features you want to use.

No. There is absolutely no activation mechanism that affects the products you create with the uCalc SDK. Licensing operates strictly on the honor system. When compiling in Visual Studio, you may see a simple uCalc message—which openly explains how to prevent it from showing—but this message never makes its way into your final compiled product.

Other products such as the Console Calculator and the Transform(er) app use a license code you receive upon ordering, which removes the opening message box.

If a developer, content creator, or partner recommended uCalc, you can enter their discount code on the Stripe checkout page right before entering your payment details. Applying their code gives you an instant discount and ensures they receive credit for referring you.  If you have such a code, please use it to support your referral source.

Direct source code escrow is not currently offered. However, third-party escrow management systems (such as ComponentSource) are being explored for the future. If this is a strict procurement requirement for your organization, please reach out to support to discuss potential accommodations.

Technical & Usage (Preview Version)

Are there breaking changes between the Preview and the final Stable release?

The Fast Math Parser is highly stable. And to some extent, so is the Transformer.  While there is no guarantee against breaking changes, future updates to these modules will primarily consist of bug fixes, optimizations, and non-conflicting enhancements. However, the uCalc String component is still undergoing structural redesigns and will likely experience breaking changes before the stable release.

Security regarding untrusted input is a high priority, but the necessary safeguards are not fully implemented in the current preview. The preview release is intended strictly for developer evaluation, prototyping, and testing. It should not yet be used to process untrusted or unsterilized user input in production environments.

Purchasing during the preview phase is highly encouraged. A commercial license includes a full year of updates, guaranteeing access to the stable release at no extra cost the moment it launches. Early sales directly fund and accelerate the development roadmap, bringing the final version to market much faster. This allows developers to begin building immediately with the highly stable Fast Math Parser and Transformer modules. Additionally, while direct feedback to shape the final API is always welcomed from all users—including those evaluating the free Community tier—securing a license now gives you higher priority for responses to feedback.
