Major uCalc Overhaul: AI Docs, New Site, & API Preview
It has been a long time coming, and I am thrilled to finally announce that the public preview of the new uCalc API is now live, housed within a completely redesigned website.
If you are a long-time user, you might be wondering why there has been such a long gap since the last major release. Keeping up with modern architecture transitions became difficult as I had to pivot my time toward outside work just to make ends meet. uCalc development slowed to a crawl. However, everything changed last year when a single individual stepped up with a financial contribution that allowed me to dedicate serious time back to uCalc. Their support made this release possible.
Because of that, the uCalc you are looking at today is a massive leap forward.
What’s New in the uCalc Preview The product itself has been heavily refined, but the biggest upgrade is how you interact with it. The days of sparse documentation are over. The new uCalc.com features:
An automated Documentation Pipeline: One of the biggest internal upgrades is the documentation pipeline itself. Rather than relying on manual updates, the new documentation is generated using a custom, highly automated in-house system that relies on uCalc Transformer. Because of this, you can expect documentation updates to stay perfectly in sync with future API releases.
Interactive Documentation: Real-world tutorials, guides, and hands-on starter projects, in addition to reference topics, accompanied by a vast trove of online interactive examples, to get you coding immediately.
A uCalc AI Assistant: Have a question about the API? You can now ask the dedicated AI assistant right on the site, and it will generate answers based directly on the new docs.
Streamlined Licensing: There is a free Community License that many developers are eligible for and a new streamlined checkout experience for commercial licenses with easy enterprise volume licensing.
Help Shape the Next Stable Release This release is a public preview. Purchasing a commercial license or choosing the new "Sponsor" option directly funds the development required to get the next stable version across the finish line faster.
I also need your input. My development ToDo list is long, and I won't be able to include everything in the very next stable release. Your feedback will guide my priorities.
