Although it’s been over a year since the last round of betas, I’ve been working full time on the exciting development of the next generation of uCalc products. The product design has radically changed course during this time, and you’ll find the result in the beta that was posted today. Although there is still quite a lot of work left to do, what’s left now appears to be the easier part. If you are interested in the uCalc Language Builder / Fast Math Parser line of products, and are looking forward to a sooner rather than later release date, there are some things you can do. Please pick one or more from the following list: - Order uCalc Fast Math Parser 2.0 today. That version was released way back in 1999. As you can imagine, sales today are no longer what they used to be. Yet continued financial revenue is still needed so the work can continue uninterrupted. I would like to thank those who have ordered in the past year, and assure you that each and every order that did come in during that time was instrumental in allowing me to continue. At present though, sales have dried up, so I may have to spend time off of development again to drum up sales for 2.0, as I’ve done from time to time, pushing the potential release date further, although promoting version 2.0 is increasingly harder to do. Each sale that comes in means less time off of development trying to raise revenue. When you order the Professional version today, you are entitled to a free upgrade to the next version of uCalc FMP or Language Builder (or whatever name I may use for it). So there’s no reason to wait (unless you’re not in a hurry for the product to be released any time soon). - Download a copy of today's beta . It’s important to have a feel for what’s in store for uCalc Language Builder, and to voice your opinion while things are still in beta. This beta is so different from previous ones that it’s worth a download, even if you’ve tried the others. - Spread the word about uCalc Language Builder. The more people know about it, the better. This will increase the pool of people from which I might receive valuable feedback for the next version, as well as some sales for version 2.0. - Please be patient with e-mail responses. To spend more time developing, I’ve cut back on the number of times per week that I check e-mail. I do want to hear from you, although it may take a couple of days before you receive a response. Although I continue to fully support version 2.0, please keep in mind that developing special workarounds for its limitations tends to be time-consuming, and chances are that such issues are already resolved in the next version I’m working on. - Sign up online for the newsletter. See www.ucalc.com/contact.html for more details. I used to spend inordinate amounts of time gathering the list of e-mails of customers or others who have indicated an interest in uCalc. Each time an e-mail announcement was sent, many e-mails bounced back, and I had to figure out which ones to remove for next time. With the newsletter, you are in charge of adding or removing your own name from the list and all I have to worry about is formulating the announcement and sending it. Check back again online as well, as I may eventually need to purge the current list and restart it under a different setting at some future date. DISCLAIMER - There is no guaranty as to the date of release for the next version.
