A new beta for the next version of UCalc Fast Math Parser (UCalc FMP) was uploaded today. In addition to being quite a bit faster than the previous beta, it now works with complex numbers, includes support for exception handling (for things like Division by 0, Overflow, etc…) and other FPU services. End-users can define recursive functions, and more. For a list of features, download the beta from the link at the bottom, and see the .HLP file. The sample program also includes many examples to highlight some of these new features.

There’s a number of compiler specific changes as well. For instance, this beta has an updated PowerBASIC include file, and a PB demo using forms. The Borland C++ Builder demo has caught up with the other demos as well (unfortunately, there’s still no demo yet specifically for VC++), and the C++ include file was redone. Comments, questions, suggestions are welcome.

For the July beta, click Download.

Note: Due to some technical differences between VB and UCalc, VB users won’t see much of a speed improvement in this beta, except in some places. PowerBASIC, Delphi, and C++ Builders users are the ones that will more readily notice the speed improvements.

If you are using PowerBASIC, and you have downloaded the July beta prior to this second message, you may need to re-download the zip file, since there was a file missing (DemoPB.Pbr) from the previous download. Without this file, it won’t compile (unless you edit out the line of code that says: #Resource "DemoPB.pbr").

Additional files for the recent beta were added for use with Visual C++. This includes updated ucalc.h and ucalc.cpp files, as well as a sample program specifically for VC++. (The main beta file already has Borland C++ Builder files).

The VC++ add-on to download is www.ucalc.com/mathparser/beta/demovc.zip .
The main beta file is http://www.ucalc.com/mathparser/beta/ucjul02b.zip .

This demovc.zip file only contains files specifically pertaining to VC++. The main zip file for the beta is also required. The VC++ files must be unzipped into the same directory as the other files for the beta.
